Injury and sports are closely related. The former is an obvious consequence of the latter. There is no sportsperson in the world who hasn’t encountered injury in their career. The Tennis Elbow is one of them. The name suggests the origination of the injury, however, it is not limited to people who are into this specific sport. In many other sports where arm movement is crucial, people have faced tennis elbow. Earlier, there was a notion that tennis elbow is a chronic condition but with modern technologies and medical science, a permanent solution for tennis elbow is possible now. All you need is to undergo a detailed diagnosis and the right approach to the therapy.

About Tennis Elbow

Tennis Elbow is the common term for Lateral Epicondylitis. In this condition, people suffer from acute pain in the outer side of the elbow.
Pain on the outside of the elbow is a common symptom of tennis elbow. Forearm (extensor) muscle overuse is a common contributor. It affects both young and old people equally. Racket sports athletes, weightlifters, and people in physically demanding professions like carpenters and plasterers are at a higher risk.
If tennis elbow prevents you from participating in sports or going to work, it can be a very frustrating and debilitating ailment. Most cases of tennis elbow can be helped by a regimen of physical therapy and lifestyle changes.

Ultrasound Therapy for Tennis Elbow

Greg W. et al. conducted the first study suggesting that ultrasonography can help with lateral epicondylitis. Ultrasound is hypothesized to stimulate metabolism, circulation, connective tissue extensibility, and regeneration through its heat and mechanical effects on the target tissue. Now, ultrasound therapy known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is used to promote tissue repair after injury. This method was reported to be helpful in 75.7% of patients with tennis elbow, according to a recent study published in the Journal of Musculoskeletal Surgery. These enhancements were still present at the follow-ups an average of two years later. Ultrasound, according to the available evidence, reduces discomfort for a period of one to three months. When it comes to relieving pain, exercise with ultrasound can be a more beneficial combo. Adding deep transverse friction massage or corticosteroids to ultrasonography does not improve outcomes over ultrasonography alone. Two or three weekly ultrasounds for four to six weeks are recommended.
